Il Melograno
Il Melograno (The Pomegranate) is a very refined and particular residence, recently restored from what was the wood storage house. The apartment consists of two rooms on two floors plus bathroom, comprising a total of 40 square meters.
The guests arrive to the private ground floor entrance via the large fenced garden of over 250 square meters. The lower floor of Il Melograno has a beautiful exposed stone wall interior and this room features a sofa bed, kitchen table and chairs, refrigerator, old stone sink, kitchenette (2 hot plates).
Access to the first floor is by a rather steep wooden staircase and this large wooden floored bedroom contains a double bed, sofa (possibly used as a bed for children) plus two air conditioning units that provide heating when necessary. The windows overlook the beautiful forest that surrounds the house. A small, antique door leads to Il Melograno‘s modern ensuite bathroom.
The guests large fenced garden includes a table for dining outside, lounge chairs and hammock. The adjacent terrace also features an outdoor shower with hot water that can be used in the summer season after sunbathing.
The apartment is also equipped with a radio, satellite TV and free wireless internet connection.
Il Noce
Il Noce (The Walnut) is located in the same historic building as il Melograno but on the top floor and with a separate entrance by a large terrace for the guests exclusive use.
This single floor appartment consists of a room of about 20 square meters, with well-equipped kitchenette (fridge, dishwasher, gas stove, sink and oven), curtain-separated dining and sleeping areas, double bed, sofa bed and bathroom of approx. 6 square meters.
The entrance area contains a pellet stove that heats the entire apartment (cost of €10 per 15kg pellet sack). Il Noce is equipped with LCD TV with satellite receiver and free wireless internet connection.
A large walnut tree provides shelter on the appartment’s large terrace which overlooks a pomegranate orchard. It’s also possible to avail of a small stone barbecue to prepare grilled meat. The house is furnished with table and chairs for outdoor dining in addition to lounge chairs for sunbathing and relaxing.
During the summer months, guests may avail of the fruits of La Casa nel Bosco‘s garden. Vegetables such as zucchini and tomatoes, lettuce and chard as well as an assortment of herbs for food preparation.
At about 200 meters from the house you can arrive at a small stream in the shelter of the woods, ideal for cooling off in the warmer summer months.
Many walks are connected to the surrounding paths:
- A 30 minute downhill forest walk leads to the village of Molino del Pallone where there are shops and restaurants as well as a railway station on the train line that connects Bologna and Pistoia.
- From La Casa nel Bosco‘s parking area at about 250 meters distance (accessible on foot or by jeep), the towns of Porretta Terme and Pistoia are accessable in about a half hour’s drive.
